"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near." With those simple words, Jesus boldly introduced himself to a world that by and large had no clue what on earth he was talking about.
Centuries later, modern-day readers of the Gospels still struggle to understand what Jesus meant when he spoke about this mysterious "kingdom." Was he talking about a political revolution? An otherworldly reality? A militaristic invasion? Or was it all just a bunch of spiritual jargon that never meant much of anything?
In this teaching series at Renewal, we're taking a careful look at what Jesus (and the rest of Scripture) has to say about this kingdom. And more specifically, we're trying to figure out how its nearness is meant to shape the contour and course of our daily existence. How does it affect our church? Our politics? Our vocations? Our relationships? Our calendars? These are just a few of the questions we'll be exploring together through the course of these family discussions.
The kingdom has come near. Let's learn to live like it!
