Want to get to know our team?
It would be an honor to meet you.
We'd be thrilled for you to stop by one of our gatherings, or to have you connect with us through email or social media. But until then, maybe these quick introductions will help you learn about the Renewal team.
Also, while you're here, feel free to take a minute and learn about our Directional Team, an important group of church family members who help keep us on course as we seek to carry out our mission. You can read about the team and meet the current members here.
Drew Humphrey | Pastor
Most of Drew's life has been spent in Lafayette and the surrounding areas. A graduate of nearby Rossville High School, he still remembers when you could ride a burlap sack down the Big Dipper at Columbian Park. He was introduced to Jesus as a child through the faithful witness of his parents and the regular instruction of the local church. As a college freshman, he began following God's call to serve the local church as a pastor. After studying Philosophy at DePauw University, he went on to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received a Masters of Divinity degree. For the past eight years, Drew has served as a pastor in Lafayette, learning what it means to lead people in living as citizens of God's kingdom.
Drew has been married to his better half Elizabeth since March 2008. Together they have the privilege of raising four beautiful children: Brenna, Felicia, Langston, and Rynessa. As a family, they love living in the heart of Lafayette, being involved in the public schools, and participating in the local happenings.
Drew is an avid reader of all kinds of books and a big fan of melancholy indie music. Most days you can probably catch him working at Oakland Elementary School, running down the streets in uncomfortably short shorts, chowing down on a Baltimore sandwich at South Street Smokehouse, or playing at a nearby park with his kids.
Luke Richardson | Worship Leader
Luke comes from the town of Danville, Indiana. He grew up in a musical family, and after seven years of rebelling against piano lessons, finally fell in love with music when he picked up the guitar when he was 15. His relationship with Christ began at a young age through his parents and grew even deeper in high school through the support and encouragement of friends and mentors. As he served musically at church, he began to learn (and is still learning) about the beauty of worshipping God not just on Sundays, but personally and continuously.
In 2013, he began studying at Cedarville University in the department of Music and Worship. However, following a summer-long internship with a Paraguayan missionary, he felt God's calling in the field of medicine. He spent the rest of his time studying Molecular and Cellular Biology, preparing to apply to medical school, and being involved in way too many things, such as being a tour guide and a campus EMT. Additionally, he spent two years traveling with a touring worship band from Cedarville called Heartsong, leading worship for churches and camps from New Hampshire to Tennessee and nearly every state in between. He graduated in May 2017.
After spending a year working for the IU School of Medicine, he now studies with the same institution at the West Lafayette campus. While he does not claim to be either a Boilermaker or a Hoosier (go Kansas State!), he does enjoy watching them harass each other. He loves photography/videography, music production, watching and talking about sports, and being tall. He can find music he likes in nearly every genre except country. In his free time, he enjoys studying, stressing over exams, and studying.
Katrina Jenkins | Administrator
Katrina has been married to her high school sweetheart (Mike) for over 39 years. They have three adult children who all live too far away! In 2017 they moved to Lafayette from Carmel, Indiana for Mike's job.
Katrina accepted Christ as a young teenager but describes her 40 year walk with the Lord as one characterized by the continual loving pursuit by her Abba Father coupled with the redemptive power of her Savior, Jesus Christ. This relentless pursuit has caused her to continually re-think what it means to live her life in light of the grace extended to her by Jesus. One of the most significant reorientations was laying down the “results-driven career” to become a stay-at-home wife and foster parent. That reorientation has resulted in much joy and a life-altering understanding of how Christ followers are to impact this world—loving all persons as image bearers of our Creator.
After fostering for some time and adopting a teenage son, Katrina and Mike began caring for her aging parents in their home and were no longer able to foster. Though her mom died a few years ago, her Dad (Mr. Bill) still shares a home with them. However, caring and advocating for children from hard places is still at the center of her heart’s desire. Recently Katrina was appointed as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) which gives her opportunities to help while also sharing the amazing love of Christ with hurting families.
Katrina worked in the accounting field for about 30 years in the private and public sector including having her own practice for the last 15 years before she retired in 2007. During those years she worked with many non-profits and churches. This experience provides her helpful insight into managing the financial matters of Renewal Church Lafayette. In her free time, Katrina enjoys watching sports with her husband, excessively texting her friends and children, farmers markets and gardening, but she gets unspeakable joy from spending time with her husband, grandchildren, friends and family.
Elizabeth Humphrey | Kid's Ministry Coordinator
Elizabeth has spent 30 of her 32 years of life living in Indiana, which makes her a Hoosier through and through. She grew up in Danville, Indiana, in a family of two sisters and five brothers (life was never boring!) and began to understand what a relationship with Jesus meant through the faithful, loving example of her parents. Over the years and through a few life-shaping events, Elizabeth has come to understand and deeply treasure the personal nature of Christ's love for her and the grace he so lavishly extends to her over and over again.
In 2005 she began studying Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University before transferring to the Indiana University School of Nursing in 2006. God's plans were not her plans, however, and after being swept off her feet by an amazingly handsome guy named Drew they were married in March of 2008 and nursing school came to an indefinite halt as they moved to Louisville for Drew's seminary training.
Aside from her husband, four of Elizabeth's most beloved treasures in life are her children: Brenna, Felicia, Langston and Rynessa. They teach her more about her own sin and how much she needs Jesus than she ever thought possible. The sanctifying work of motherhood has given Elizabeth a desire to teach her children the truths of the Scripture and she longs to instill these same truths in all the children that come to Renewal!
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys being outside, staying active, spending time with her family, trying out new recipes, finding all the good local restaurants around town to eat at (without kids) and dreaming about the next project she can talk Drew into doing on their 100 year old house.
